The Maine Way

Oftentimes when I find a lull in my work schedule, I do what most normal people do, such as go for a long run, take a much needed R&R day, or heck, maybe even get my nails done. Yeah right. Since I'm off-par when it comes to what I consider "normal" free-time-filling activities, I'm usually making more work for myself...to me, a "lull" means designing something random, cooking up & photographing a recipe, or doing some much needed t.e.l.l. work.

All things aside, that's what keeps me happy. Over the years, I've become the kind of person who feels unaccomplished if they're not working towards something greater...even if it's just photographing caramel apples in the kitchen...it is for a greater cause. Inevitably I have those days/nights where a lull turns into becoming one with the couch and doing absolutely nothing, but those days don't happen often. In between those occurrences I love to keep busy with whatever random project I'm looking to start (or finish) at the moment.

Enter the "Maine" sweatshirt I just designed. Since our wedding in July, which took place in York, Maine, I've been on a real Maine kick. I love the state, and don't get to spend enough time there. Until I do, I'll design random things to show my love.  Here's a sample of some of the fun I've had with Maine.

Brie + Jonathan Get Married | Waitsfield, VT

It's always a pleasure photographing a wedding, even more so when it's for a friend. Brie and Jonathan were married on September 26th at the 1824 House in Waitsfield, Vermont. It was an intimate ceremony surrounded by their closest family and friends on the banks of the Mad River. Early fall foliage dotted the mountains and the perfect weather graced the afternoon.

I met Brie while in college and later resided with her and some fellow Phis at our house on Chestnut Hill. Not long after, Brie met Jonathan, a native Texan and without a doubt, the nicest & kindest Texan I know. Shortly after their engagement, I was honored when they asked if I could take their engagement photos, and even more so when they asked me to be their wedding photographer.

The day was stunning - besides the weather being a picture-perfect autumn day, everything fell into place gorgeously. The bride dazzled, the bridesmaids in their gowns were a perfect compliment to Brie and the setting, and the groom didn't look too shabby either! Even Calvin (their beloved child/dog) was dressed to impress.

Check out a few favorites from the sweetest day with these two lovebirds. Cheers to many years of happiness, Jonathan & Brie!
