In 2012 I began a photo-a-day project that combined a slew of un-edited photos from a cross-country road trip as well as my love for type. Every day for 366 days (it was a leap year) I uploaded a new photo to my tumblr site, Tripod Diaries.
Some days were rushed, and lacked a certain finess, other days I had hours to play around with the layout and design. Towards the end of the project I embarked on a second cross-country road trip - the constant battle for finding wifi hotspots in desolate areas pushed me to start using iphone apps such as Phonto, Mextures and Afterlight.
Today, I look back & cringe at some of the photos that were realeased for the project, as my taste, style and skillset has continued to evolve as well. Regardless, it was a great exercise in design and typography & a neat way to watch myself grow.
I hit some major milestones during this project, which were completely unexpected. I've had one photo receive more than 100,000 likes and reblogs before Tumblr removed it (who knows why). Presently, the most popular photo of mine has made it's rounds on the Tumblrverse 68,000+ times. I constantly find my work on Pinterest boards and the homepage when I'm least expecting and one time Holstee posted a photo of mine that received 622 Facebook likes and 799 shares.
Below is a small sample of images from this project. If you would like to see more, visit Tripod Diaries.
