The long of it:

I got my start in advertising answering telephones at a small shop in Boston called Modernista! Having graduated from UNH with a general marketing degree, I had absolutely no idea what working in advertising actually meant. Sitting behind the receptionist desk and in between shifts sorting mail, I studied org charts and questioned anyone I could to learn all I could about the industry.

I left M! in 2010 to travel the US via the nonprofit that I had co-founded called Journeys Through America, which also happened to be funded by another small Boston ad shop. For 3 months I lived out of my car and National Park hopped.

In 2012 I started at Arnold Worldwide. Having no actual experience in the creative department, I accepted a position as a layout artist in the print studio. A small sidestep, but it was here that I realllly started to learn. On day one I bought “Photoshop for Dummies” — I had only used the program to edit photos and now I was supposed to build banners. What does that even mean? I never opened the book because thankfully I was surrounded by folks who were willing to give me the training I should have gotten had I gone to ad school.

I spent 7 years and the majority of my creative career at Arnold. I left in 2019 as an Associate Creative Director, having had the chance to work on many incredible campaigns for brands of all shapes and sizes.

I moved to NYC in December 2019 to work at Verizon’s in-house agency. The pandy hit. The city shutdown. What incredible timing. I did manage to get promoted to a Creative Director in the spring of 2020, though — which had always been the goal as I sat behind that desk answering phones at M!.

In 2020, a bit stir crazy from the side effects of a global shutdown, I started my own small content production and design agency called Sunday Morning Studio. Today, I still co-operate SMS and work as a Creative Director at Verizon.

TL;DR

I got my start in advertising answering phones at Modernista! but truly grew up in advertising at Arnold Boston. I consider myself a multidisciplinary creative. I believe in smart work that works hard for the brand. I can get scrappy when you need to but when budgets and stretched timelines are on our side, let’s make the most of them.

I’m always open to taking on additional freelance projects, so feel free to browse my work to see if we'd be a good fit for each other, and, if you're interested in working together, let's get in touch.
